Showing my Redneck Side "GUN SHOW"

Saturday with nothing to do (nothing fun anyway) the sky was black in some spots with rain clouds, so bike riding was out. What to do…what to do. Then I remembered the gun show was in town.

So off I went in my trusty 1999 Ford F-150,

The gun show is only a few miles from my house…so in fifteen minutes I was at the front door with

six dollars in hand for admission. Once through the door , you are greeted by two law enforcement officers that check all guns carried into the show…for you guys and girls not in the know, gun shows are huge in the south. The shows are set up to buy and trade guns, knives and other guy stuff. So it's not uncommon for people walking in carrying many guns strapped to their body’s to trade and sale…and yea there is always a few nuts that dress in full camouflage with machine guns,

knives and things you can’t even imagine strapped to them (I guess trying to look hardcore). My friends an I usually just laugh at them as the walk by. Ha-ha…don’t get me wrong I’m all for the right to carry guns but come on guysssss….

I took a of photo of the arena so you could get an idea of how big this show is…VERY LARGE.

As you walk around from table to table you will find anything you want gun and knife related, there is even jewelry

There are books….hmmm looks like some light reading…remember folks it a gun show...ha-ha.

You can also buy used stuff from wars of the passed (yea that a old gas mask….they have new ones too)

All kinds of ammo and brass for you re-loaders out there.

Fifty round and 100 round drum clips for your machine guns

Brass knuckles and throwing stars… funny, brass knuckles are sold as paper weights…RIGHT…RIGHT…wink, wink

Machine guns, some fully automatic…

Then they also sell basic shotguns and rifles…

Yep that’s hand grenades…minus the firing pin and power (funny part if you look hard you can find the pins and powder at the other table.) Always a way around the law. Ha-ha…God Bless America.

Hope this sheds some light on the working of gun shows...to you guys and girls that have not been to one…check out the next show in your hometown…trust me you will never know what you will find. I’ve been buying and selling guns at these shows for years…love them.

Where are the motorcycles???

Where are the motorcycles, this is a question I keep asking myself every day as I ride my bike to work. Everyday I pull up on my bike and scan the parking lot…never do I see a single bike. What gives??? I know that there are several people that work in my building that own them, but for some reason they never (and I mean never) ride them. I’ve been riding my bike to work now for around 8 months and in that time I have only seen four bikes at work…each bike I have only seen at the office one time each, in 8 months.

Another guy stopped by my office about a week ago he drives a Harley; he was in his company truck at the time…he works for the same company but in a different building about a mile down the road. After seeing my helmet on my desk he asked if that was my bike outside…then of course we started talking about motorcycles. During our talk I asked him if he drove his bike to work are not. His answer was NO, that one; it was too much trouble and two; that he did not like putting the extra miles on the bike, due to the expense of oil changes.

Am I the only one out there that likes to ride everyday??? I have to admit I have a 30% rule…every morning I get up I check weather.com http://www.weather.com/

and if there is more than 30% chance of rain I’m taking my truck to work. If it’s fewer than 30% I’m on my bike and heading to work. Cold weather does not bother me much but truth is I live where there are very rarely days under low 30’s and almost never any snow.

I guess my question to everyone is…do you ride your bike everyday or do you hold off ridding for that perfect sunny day??? I’m beginning to think I’m the odd one here; maybe motorcycles are just for weekends…Hmm???

Sushi anyone???

Got off work around 4:00pm Friday, went home and quickly became bored out of my mind. Luckily the wife Signe arrived home soon after looking hungry. After a quick kid check; we found out that Myles wanted to spend the night out with his buddy Tanner next door and go to soccer game later…Yes!!! One down, one to go, then we asked Allison, she had decided to sit it out around the house, as she has big plans for Saturday and Sunday. Free at last…Free at last!!! Ok I know this sounds meanto people that don’t have kids, but most parents understand even if they won’t admit it. Ha-ha.


No big plans just dinner out alone…NO KIDS!!!! Ok I’ll stop no more kid jokes. We really do love our kids (while shaking our heads no, did I type that out loud?) . So we decided that Sushi would be nice. Then we were off to our favorite Sushi restaurant, Little Tokyo, in Hattiesburg. We have been going to this place for years, it has had many owners and has been remodeled too many times to count and I am sad to say they still don’t draw lots of people. Tonight was a little different, this time they had added booths and a little more upscale atmosphere and to our surprise there were people in the place eating. Yea!!! I think they are going to make it.
On the way I pulled out my trustee I PHONE and snapped a shot while waiting for a red light, you can’t miss the place it’s lit up in bright blue lights.

Then I took one of my darling little wife as we entered the place.

Once in, we were seated in a back booth, nice and quite but not a very good location to take photos of the restaurant, so you will have to settle for booth shots.

We had a super nice waitress that spoke very little English, we picked out our normal Sushi rolls and tried a new one with shrimp, crab meat, veggies, rice and seaweed, wow that was good but a little pricey . This roll was 11 dollars most of the rolls we eat run from 3 to 5 dollars; but it was well worth the extra money. The meal started of with a couple of bowls of soup,

followed by the Sushi roll platter,

followed by the fried rice,

then a small plate of fruit (freebee) There was one mistake of the evening, when we order our fried rice we told the waitress we wanted a serving for two and she brought us two huge servings, no big-ee, we got a box to go, knowing my boy would be home the next day and would eat it up. Great meal and a great time with the wife at Little Tokyo in Hattiesburg. Oh yea I almost forgot...the bill, not to bad for all the above and a few glasses of wine.

Happy birthday….Aunt Shirley!!!

After my day of total power at work (the boss was gone and I was left in charge 12/12/2008 the office may never be the same. Ha-ha), the family got together for a surprise birthday party for my little Aunt Shirley. The plan…Have a surprise party at The Bottling Company Friday night at 5:30pm, with the surprise-eee to show up at 6:00p

The family started to show up all bearing gifts, some store bought and others made with love.

The crew started to grow AND GROW!!!

Then we got the notice…the surprise-eee was in the building, it went off like a charm, we scared the crap out of them (I said them, because we did not let her husband Wayne in on it…he would have squealed, sorry Wayne. Shirley, cried like a baby, truth is she was crying due to long flight of stairs she had to climb, but it sounds better if we think it was due to the surprise.

There were many hugs and kisses everywhere...it was like a real love fest.

I wish I knew how old my Aunt Shirley is….if I only had a clue…

I wonder what happen to all those cupcakes…the kids said they had not seen them…hmmm???

Another nice touch…all through out the party, photos were playing on the big screen TV of friends and family.

Speaking of nice touches…Chad and his wife Heather gave a hand written poem describing the life and times of my little Aunt Shirley, then to top it off Heather read it to everyone at the party, a real tear jerker, great job Heather, great job.

Then it was time to get this party started...BREAK OUT THE BOOZE!!!!

No booze for me, THANK YOU...I'm drinking for two!!!

Then there were the ones who said they were drinking rootbeer but their face tells a different story...

The party turned out to be a great success, good times for all…HAPPY BIRTHDAY Shirley!!!
Don’t WORRY, we will be back at The Bottling Company Thursday next week for the Bagget’s annual Christmas party, and yea I’ll be reporting on that too. THE END.
