Where are the motorcycles???

Where are the motorcycles, this is a question I keep asking myself every day as I ride my bike to work. Everyday I pull up on my bike and scan the parking lot…never do I see a single bike. What gives??? I know that there are several people that work in my building that own them, but for some reason they never (and I mean never) ride them. I’ve been riding my bike to work now for around 8 months and in that time I have only seen four bikes at work…each bike I have only seen at the office one time each, in 8 months.

Another guy stopped by my office about a week ago he drives a Harley; he was in his company truck at the time…he works for the same company but in a different building about a mile down the road. After seeing my helmet on my desk he asked if that was my bike outside…then of course we started talking about motorcycles. During our talk I asked him if he drove his bike to work are not. His answer was NO, that one; it was too much trouble and two; that he did not like putting the extra miles on the bike, due to the expense of oil changes.

Am I the only one out there that likes to ride everyday??? I have to admit I have a 30% rule…every morning I get up I check weather.com http://www.weather.com/
and if there is more than 30% chance of rain I’m taking my truck to work. If it’s fewer than 30% I’m on my bike and heading to work. Cold weather does not bother me much but truth is I live where there are very rarely days under low 30’s and almost never any snow.
I guess my question to everyone is…do you ride your bike everyday or do you hold off ridding for that perfect sunny day??? I’m beginning to think I’m the odd one here; maybe motorcycles are just for weekends…Hmm???

COME ON PEOPLE, IT'S GETTING NICE OUTSIDE...DON'T BE A DAN!!! (see youtube link above)

Don't want to put miles on due to the cost of changing oil? WTF? Man that's the dumbest F'n thing I've ever heard of! He should sell his bike, so someone who want' to ride can.

I envy people who can ride to work everyday. It is physically impossible for me to do my job with a motorcycle. It sucks. I'm out there every chance I get.

I'm with you bro. If it's about 20F and 30% or less chance of rain...I'm on the bike. What's up with the sissies?

OK, that guy sounds like a piece of work! Doesn't want to put miles on his bike? Why the hell did he buy it?? WTF??? Maybe he should learn to change his own oil.

My husband does not own a car or truck. Just bikes. He rides 365 here, even in the hot summers. I don't ride my own just yet, but I'm learning. I do ride with him every chance I get though.

That guy should just fess up and say it's his wife. They are FORBIDDEN in my house! Chad's of much better use to me alive than dead.

365 day rider here, rider and bike health permitting. Well, once in a while I need to run an errand or two that requires a cage. And, yes, I have a 30% rule as well. 30% chance of rain, I pack my wet weather gear and yell to the gods of weather, "Bring it on!"

Temp doesn't matter, rode in 25F temps the first day I was licensed in 2008 and in the 120F temps of the Las Vegas summers.

Maybe I am a bit crazy!

Man, I glad I’m not alone on this one…why would you just want a bike sitting around at your house because you don’t wont to pay to have your oil changed. Oh yea Kellye, his wife has a bike too, so we can’t blame her for the lack of riding and you got to get Chad a bike…we could be the new Wild Hogs…ha-ha.
Thanks for the comments

That's the difference between a BIKER and a "Motorcycle Enthusiast"! Weather permitting(I'm in MN), I ride my bike to work every day unless for some reason I need to drive the kids to school. What's a little rain? That's why God created rain gear & towels!

"Forbidden"?
Besides the guys that have been 'snipped', some are motorcycle "owners" as opposed to riders. We see them come out of the woodwork for PGR parades and Memorial day (if its not too hot, humid, dusty or wet).

weather prediction is very important for riders. Maybe people choose to ride public transportation on weekdays and motorcycles on weekends.

Hi Big Al... now that you're a blog of note... i've stumbled in... this post interested me because my hubby rides his motorcycle almost every day to work... He's been riding for a little over a year... and he rarely rides on weekends? I think that's a little backwards.. but heck... he is Polish... ;)
Have a great day! Dixie

I have no car, so I drive my bike everywhere I go. Even in heavy rains, that's why they create raincoat. I like what RazorsEdge2112 yelled to rain gods, "Bring it on!"

I want a bike so much :) My dad used to have one when he was younger but he had to give it up when my mom got pregnant because she wanted him safe and around all the time I suppose. Anyway, great blog, congratulations on being blog of note!

I certainly have seen a lot more motorcyle riding in my town ever since gas started skyrocketing last year. Maybe folks in my area, where parking and traffic are impossible, have realized how practical they are.

I ride my bike to work nearly every day. Currently, I have embarked on an experiment to see how many days in a row I can ride, and write about it when I'm finished. You can follow my progress at http://pinkysmcpassion.blogspot.com/
